First Metro Investment Corporation was awarded the Cesar E.A. Virata Award for Best Securities House (Investment House Category) by the Philippine Dealing System Holdings Corp. Group (PDS Group) in its 2022 PDS Annual Awards. The award, named after former Prime Minister and PDS Group Chairman Emeritus Cesar E.A. Virata, is a testament to the company’s dedication to the fixed-income securities business, evidenced by its exceptional performance in trading, distribution and settlement activities for the year.

Accepting the award during the virtual gathering held on March 25, First Metro president Jose Patricio Dumlao said, “It is with great honor and pleasure to receive this very prestigious award. This award symbolizes the fruition of our hard work in the past year, amidst a challenging and volatile business and market landscape.”

First Metro was also again recognized for the tenth time as the Top Corporate Securities Market Maker. It was also chosen as one of the Top 5 Corporate Issue Managers/Arrangers (ranked 2nd).

In his speech, Mr. Dumlao acknowledged First Metro’s employees, clients and partners, “We are truly grateful for these recognitions and together with the management team of First Metro, we share these awards with all our colleagues whose teamwork, dedication, passion and excellent work earned this honor for the company. “This achievement is another milestone in the long history of First Metro and this will serve as another inspiration for us to remain true to our mission to develop the Philippine capital markets and contribute to nation building. This will also serve as a challenge for us to strive even harder and encourage us to set our sights higher, while keeping our feet on the ground,” he added.

Celebrated annually since 2006, the PDS Group Awards Night recognizes its member institutions that have exhibited outstanding performance, leadership, innovation, and overall contribution to the development of the capital market. This is the second year that the celebration was held virtually since the pandemic started.
